Border Terrier Dog Breed

    Great Britain

The Border Terrier is not an attractive contest dog, but it is gaining ground as a robust nice house dog that is easy to care. As we can deduce by its name, it comes from the rough zone that separates Scotland from England. In that very isolated region, a special type of dog exclusively raised for its ability to track foxes and badgers was created.

It took time for the Border Terrier to appear in canine exhibitions and dog breeding, to such extent that it is even now one of the breeds of the Terrier group that is more natural and less spoiled.

In the standard of the breed there is an emphasis that the Border Terrier is essentially a working Terrier that is why it must be hard-working and brave. Its head looks like that of an otter, with small moderately thick ears that are fallen forward and very close to the cheeks. Its eyes are dark and its expression is bold and penetrating.

The color is red, gray and cinnamon, blue and cinnamon or pure dark blonde. The height at withers is usually 25 to 30 cm and its weight is about 6 kg.
