Male puppy emitting foul odor when humping pillow

Postby Guest » Mon Mar 20, 2006 10:04 pm

Our 5 month old yellow lab puppy emits a foul odor (dead animal smell) while he is humping his pillow. We are trying to get him to stop the humping behavior, but what is causing the odor? Is it something that will subside once he is neutered? I have read about secretions from the anal sacs, but he has never been "scooting" on the ground or shown any signs of irritation or itching.

But what about the odor?

Is it normal for a male dog to emit an odor while doing this? I know we will be able to fix the humping problem, I just dont know if I should be concerned about the smell and possibly blacked anal ducts.
